This Privacy Policy describes how Verso AI ("Verso," "we," "us," or "our") processes personal information that we collect through our website, PowerPoint add-in, and web application (collectively, the "Service").
Verso provides an AI-powered platform that generates and edits PowerPoint presentations.
1. Personal Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
- Account data. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign up with a password, it is securely hashed and stored by our authentication provider (Supabase). If you sign in via Google OAuth, we do not receive or store your Google password.
- User-generated content. Presentations you upload or create, images, documents, text prompts, and conversation history with our AI assistant.
- Feedback data. Ratings, comments, and other feedback you provide about the Service.
- Communications. Information from your correspondence with us (e.g., support requests).
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. Token usage, model selections, and feature interactions for billing and service operation.
- Device data. Browser type, operating system, and IP address collected through standard server logs.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel).
- We do not use advertising trackers or remarketing pixels.
- We do not collect sensitive personal information (e.g., health data, biometrics, political opinions).
2. How We Use Your Personal Information
- Service delivery. To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including processing your prompts and presentations through AI models.
- Authentication. To verify your identity and manage your account.
- Billing. To track usage and process transactions.
- Service improvement. To analyze aggregate, de-identified usage patterns and improve the Service. We do not use your presentations or prompts to train AI models.
- Communication. To respond to your inquiries and send service-related notices.
- Compliance and security. To comply with legal obligations and protect against misuse.
3. How We Share Your Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as necessary to provide the Service:
- AI model providers. To generate and edit presentations, we send your text prompts and presentation content to third-party AI model providers. The specific provider used depends on your model selection. Only the content necessary to fulfill your request is transmitted.
- Infrastructure providers. We use third-party services for authentication, database hosting, data storage, and server hosting.
These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes, including training AI models.
We may also share personal information to comply with applicable law, to protect the rights or safety of Verso or others, or in connection with a merger or acquisition (with prior notice to affected users).
4. Sub-processors
The following third-party sub-processors are used to provide the Service:

5. Data Storage and Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
- Data at rest is encrypted in our database and on our servers.
- Presentations and uploaded files are stored on our servers, organized by user account, and are not accessible to other users.
- We implement access controls and follow industry-standard security practices.
However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Presentations and conversations are retained until you delete them through the Service, or until your account is deleted.
- Billing and transaction records are retained as required by applicable financial and tax regulations.
- Server logs are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted.
When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or anonymize it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
All users
- Delete conversations. You can delete individual conversations and their associated files through the Service at any time.
- Opt out of communications. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time.
European users (EEA and UK) — GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Access. Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Rectification. Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Erasure. Request deletion of your personal information ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability. Request a machine-readable copy of your personal information.
- Restriction. Request that we restrict processing of your personal information.
- Objection. Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent. Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

8. Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses browser localStorage to store your preferences (theme, model selection). These are not cookies and are not shared with any third party. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
9. International Data Transfers
Verso is based in France. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our sub-processors operate.
For transfers from the EEA/UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission and Data Processing Agreements with each sub-processor.
10. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users without undue delay and provide sufficient information for you to understand the scope of the breach and take protective measures.
11. Children
The Service is not intended for use by anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on the Service and updating the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
